Mine Ban Policy

The Republic of Mauritius signed and ratified the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997, becoming a State Party on 1 March 1999. Mauritius has never used or produced antipersonnel mines. Legislation to enforce the antipersonnel mine prohibition domestically was adopted in April 2001. Mauritius submitted its seventh Article 7 transparency report on 4 April 2008. It destroyed its stockpile of 93 antipersonnel mines in November 2003 and did not retain any mines for training purposes.

Mauritius is party to the Convention on Conventional Weapons but not its Amended Protocol II on landmines or Protocol V on explosive remnants of war.
