This press conference will release the global findings of Landmine Monitor 2013, the fifteenth Annual Report produced by the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL). The report provides an overview of implementation and universalization of the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty and reviews compliance by all states with the prohibitions on the use, production, transfer, and stockpiling of antipersonnel landmines. The 2013 report highlights new independent information on suspected use of landmines by armed forces in Yemen, a State Party to the Mine Ban Treaty. It provides updated land clearance, funding, and global casualty figures, as well as new details of victim assistance efforts.

Landmine Monitor 2013 is being issued in advance of the convention’s Thirteenth Meeting of States Parties, which will be held in Geneva on 2-5 December 2013. Hard copies of the press release and Landmine Monitor 2013 report will be distributed. The press release will be available in English, French, Spanish, and Arabic. The report will be available in English. The press conference will be held in English.
Members of the Landmine Monitor Editorial Team, some of the world’s leading experts on antipersonnel landmines, will be on hand to answer media questions.
