Belize
signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 27 February 1998 and ratified on 23 April 1998.
It has not yet enacted domestic implementation legislation. Belize submitted
its initial Article 7 transparency report on 4 November 1999, but has not
submitted the required annual updated reports due 30 April 2000 and 30 April
2001. It did not participate in the Second Meeting of States Parties in
September 2000 or in the intersessional Standing Committee meetings in December
2000 and May 2001. Belize voted in support of UN General Assembly Resolution
55/33V. While not a party to Amended Protocol II to the Convention on
Conventional Weapons, Belize did participate as an observer in the Second Annual
Conference of States Parties in December 2000. Belize has never used, produced,
imported, or stockpiled antipersonnel landmines, including for training
purposes, and is not
mine-affected.[1]
