Andorra signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December
1997, ratified on 29 June 1998, and became a State Party on 1 March 1999. It
has not introduced legislation to implement the treaty, but has regulations
governing the use and traffic in
arms.[1] Andorra’s initial
Article 7 report, provided on 12 July 2000, notes that it has never produced or
possessed antipersonnel mines and is not
mine-affected.[2] Andorra did not
submit an annual Article 7 transparency report in 2001, 2002 or the first half
of 2003. It did not attend any Mine Ban Treaty related meetings in 2002 or the
first half of 2003, but voted in favor of UN General Assembly Resolution 57/74
on 22 November 2002, supporting universalization and implementation of the Mine
Ban Treaty. Landmine Monitor did not find any record of financial contributions
to mine action by Andorra in 2002 or the first half of 2003.
