Fiji signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997
and ratified on 10 June 1998. It has not yet enacted domestic implementation
legislation. Fiji’s second Article 7 Report, submitted 21 August 2002,
indicated no change from the previous report, a “nil” report
submitted on 12 November 1999. Fiji voted in support of pro-ban UN General
Assembly Resolution 57/74 in November 2002. It is not believed to have ever
produced, transferred, or used antipersonnel mines. Fiji declared no stockpile
of antipersonnel mines, including for training, in its Article 7 report.
