The
Republic of San Marino signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997, ratified
on 18 March 1998, and became a State Party on 1 March 1999. San Marino
submitted a second Article 7 report on 7 August 2002, repeating the previous
statement that no national implementation measures have been taken because it
has “never used, stocked, produced or had landmines on its
territory.”[1] San Marino
did not attend any Mine Ban Treaty-related meetings in 2002 or the first half of
2003, but on 22 November 2002, it voted in favor of UN General Assembly
Resolution 57/74, which calls for universalization and implementation of the
Mine Ban Treaty.
