Key developments since 1999: Dominica became a State Party on 1
September 1999.
Dominica signed the Mine Ban Treaty on 3 December 1997, ratified on 26 March
1999, and the treaty entered into force for the country on 1 September 1999. On
20 August 2002, Dominica submitted its initial Article 7 transparency report in
which it stated that it has “neither stockpiled anti-personnel mines nor
been mine-affected.” It submitted an update to this report for the years
2002 and 2003 on 25 April 2003. No national implementation measures have been
detailed in the transparency reports. Dominica has voted in support of the 1998
and 1999 annual pro-ban UN General Assembly Resolutions, but has been absent
from the vote in other years. The country has not attended any Mine Ban
Treaty-related meetings.
