New HRW Report-- Ukraine: Widespread Use of Cluster Munitions

Ukrainian government forces used cluster munitions in populated areas in Donetsk city in early October 2014, Human Rights Watch said today. The use of cluster munitions in populated areas violates the laws of war due to the indiscriminate nature of the weapon and may amount to war crimes. See more details.

United States announces new landmine policy
|
Today, the United States announced a new landmine policy rejecting the use of banned antipersonnel mines everywhere except in the Korean peninsula, saying the action "underscored its commitment to the spirit and humanitarian aims of the Ottawa Convention."
